Tips for Turkey Day

It's Thanksgiving week, y'all! I know this holiday season comes with lots and lots of food and sweets, and over indulgence of all the good things. I thought I'd give you some tips on how I plan to keep my body feeling healthy and happy! I am adding a couple of sides that are loaded with vitamins and minerals. My plan is to make sure I fill my plate 1/2 way up with these. I will still enjoy some of the normal stuff that I have been looking forward to, like cornbread dressing and sweet potato casserole. I'll put those on my plate last, when room is running out. Here are a couple of healthier sides I'll be incorporating into this years Thanksgiving feast.

Cranberry Apple Pecan Salad with Poppyseed Dressing

Ingredients: baby spinach, pecans (coarsely chopped), 2 Granny Smith apples (chopped), feta cheese crumbles or goat cheese, dried cranberries, poppyseed dressing.

Toss and eat!

This is so yum! We don't eat a ton of meat but when we do, I make sure we get the best quality we can find. I always look for vegetarian fed, raised humanely, and absolutely no antibiotics or nitrates.

Coat your asparagus with evoo, or avocado oil, and sprinkle with minced garlic and pepper. Wrap 4-5 pieces with bacon and put on a cookie sheet. Bake on 400 for 20-25 min. Turning once halfway through. Then turn the broiler on for a few minutes until bacon is crispy.

I hope you all have the best Thanksgiving! Leave me a comment if you try these and let me know what ya think. Blessings to you and your family!
